Friendly Against The Robins

Eine Einstimmung auf das erste richtige Testspiel gegen die Engländer vom Cheltenham Football Club:
Preparations continue in Germany
Cheltenham Town's players have settled into their German training base and are today (July 18) participating in their second full day of work.
The Robins players were put through their paces by the coaching staff yesterday in baking heat with training sessions in the morning and afternoon. Preparations have been thorough with physiotherapist Ian Weston even bringing the club's ice bath over from the Seasons training ground in order to cool the players down after each session.
"The ice bath took some getting through the airports and onto the coaches," joked manager John Ward.
"But it serves a major purpose and it's there for after training. We are working in temperatures of 30 degress plus so it becomes an important part of our equipment."

The first match of their week-long trip takes place tomorrow evening against SV Arminia Hannover, who play at the fourth level of German football. On Friday evening the Robins travel to KSV Hessen Kassel, who have just been promoted to level three.
The journey across to Europe was stress-free and virtually all of the 23-man squad are currently involved in full training. Ward is hoping to involve every player at some point during the two games.
"Not quite everybody is training at the moment," he said.
"Mickey Bell has a slight Achilles problem, nothing too severe, and Damian Spencer tweaked his knee at Worcester and didn't train yesterday. Both players have a chance of being involved in the second game and they are here working with Ian Weston to get the best possible treatment.
"We've settled in well and the training ground is in really good condition. It's a different venue to last season so that adds a bif of variety.
"The hotel is good, the food is good and the company is good so it's all going really well at the moment. Now we are looking forward to getting the two matches worked out."
Ward explained that he is expecting more difficult games than the two last season and that he is planning to field two completely different teams in the fixtures.
"They will be tough games and from our experience German teams are always well organised and good on the ball," he explained.
"This year we are playing teams from a higher level and I want them to be good tests for us because I want my team to start stepping up their game now.
"It's all about preparing for the start of the season and that first game against Swansea City so we will have a couple of tough games here and then step it up again when we come back and play Southampton and Hereford United.
"It's getting to that time when players need to get 90 minutes of football in. Our guys don't grumble too much but most of them have had 45s and 30s and now they want a bit more. Hopefully the squad is big enough to give the majority of people 90 minutes now. Everybody here is capable of playing in the first team so I'm confident we can field two strong teams."
Kick-off in the Arminia Hannover match is 7pm local time and we will endeavour to bring you a match report as soon as possible after the match, although this will depend on the availability of internet access and may not be until the team returns to the hotel in Göttingen.
